Today, our Cellar Members are invited to participate in our very special Magnum offer. The Sandown Cabernet Sauvignon hails from one of the most distinctive sites in all of Blewitt Springs and McLaren Vale. The Sandown Cabernet Sauvignon single site is located in western Blewitt Springs and is located where the deep sands are eminent. As the namesake suggests, the site is sandy and encourages the 100 year old Cabernet vines to sink their roots extremely deeply and forge a site specific perfume lift on the complex and world class Cabernet expression. This is an estate grown single vineyard and today I have a 14 year old magnum from 2010 and 2 x 750ml bottles of the legendary, highly rated 2021 vintage to offer. All of the critics unite in its praise, I have received a round of  96/100 scores and it’s an utter joy to enjoy right now. Couple it with the magnum to take your tasting to the next level and beyond with this meticulously cellared, and earthy mature 2010 Sandown Cabernet Sauvignon magnum.

Additional information

Weight 5.83 kg

From 1940s vines; 18 months in 60% new French oak. Grenache and syrah are naturally thought of first at this address, with cabernet a little overlooked, or that’s how it seems. This is an impressive bottling, deep and rich, but with varietal integrity resoundingly intact, a breeze of lavender and violet florals adding immense appeal. Cedar, mulberry and cassis, redcurrant, Kalamata olive and a briary herbaceousness allied with rocky, mineral savouriness. Composed, deep and linear, this should age very nicely indeed.

Showing more red fruits than the other two cabernets, with a touch of violet and cigar box as well; the palate is lively and fresh and the acidity is a more prominent feature, providing a long, fragrant and even conclusion.
