The Domaine Clarendon Syrah vineyard is the first vineyard Roman Bratasiuk planted. Famous for discovering and proliferating old vine sites across Blewitt Springs and Clarendon Roman search for, discovered and planned this vineyard for many years before it materialised. Using Astralis vineyard cuttings, the Clarendon single vineyard site was winemaker-designed and features single-staked non-cordon trellising seen on the famous hill of Hermitage in Rhone Valley. The site features relatively dense plantings of majestic 8 foot tall single stake vines that highlight the ancient Clarendon terroir with majesty and high fidelity. The elevation is that of the Adelaide Hills cool climate wine region so you receive cool climate overtones of iodine and flint in the roast meat, plum dominant expression. The floral components of violets and lavender accentuate the finer details of black olive, liquorice, chocolate, and baking spice. The 2010 vintage was an excellent year and one that has many attributes of acidity and structure and fruit depth however all align in perfect harmony to express the Clarendon terroir with grace and opulence. Large formats always preserve the fruit component and this Domaine Clarendon Syrah 2010 MAGNUM example drinks exceptionally well. Members only.
