They are rated extremely well and all drink fantastically with a few years under their belt in the cellar. The ancient Sandown vineyard in Bleiwtt Springs e enjoys Cabernet and Syrah plantings that date back to the 1930’s. The old vine Syrah here produces one of the most kaleidoscopic , lighter framed Syrah we have in the cellar every year. I love it for its uniqueness. Strawberry and cream, roses, red liquorice, sarsaparilla, cola, cherry. roast meat, sandalwood, clove and red peppercorn define this individual beauty. While the contrasting Onkaparinga examples reek of world class perfume characters. Earth, game, mahogany, roast meat, roast hazelnut atop chocolate covered blackcurrants. The Onkapairnga Syrah patch was once a Grange constituent in the 1990s and is today one of our best grand cru Syrah wines we have in the cellar every year. The nose is lifted and ethereal and it occasionally equals Astralis for best nose and wine in our internal barrel tastings.  The consistent 96-98 /100 scores we receive on this vineyard for the last 10 years showcases this site’s amazing pedigree and calibre of expression of superior terroir.
