Today, our Cellar Members are invited to participate in our very special Magnum offer. The Romas Grenache hails from some of the oldest bush vines grenache in all of Blewitt Springs and McLaren Vale. The Romas single site is from the steepest and rockiest of all of our vineyards. The site is terraced and east facing. These gnarly old vines produce something truly exceptional ever year and today I have a 14 year old magnum from 2010 and 2 x 750ml bottles of the latest release and highly rated 2022 edition. All of the critics unite in its praise, I have received 3 96/100 scores and 2 x 97/100 scores on this wine and it’s an utter joy to enjoy right now. Couple it with the magnum to take your tasting to the next level and beyond with this meticulously cellared, and earthy mature 2010 Romas magnum.

Weight 5.83 kg

The 2022 Romas Grenache is a fiercely concentrated and serious structured wine, with a constellation of flavor and texture that makes up the sum of what it is. On the nose, there is milk chocolate, star anise, blackberry, raspberry, aniseed, sweet blonde tobacco, scraped vanilla pod, cracked pistachios and Australian sandalwood. In the mouth, the wine offers all of these characters and lays the texture on the tongue like a weighted blanket. It is brilliantly structured, dense and concentrated yet balanced, with dehydrated orange peel, peated whisky, chinotto and flame-roasted walnuts. It's also velvety, which would be remiss of me not to mention. This is a serious offering of everything: flavor, tannin and regionality. Stylistically, it sort of runs counter to the McLaren Vale "trend" toward lightness at the moment, but it does so with such conviction and classicism that it nails it. This is a super wine. 14.5% alcohol, sealed under Diam.

2022 Romas Grenache

- Wine Advocate, Erin Larkin

There is another level of concentration in this wine, delving in to the very syrup of plum, raspberry and prune with a little dried herb complexity thrown in for good measure; the palate is dense and brooding, massively proportioned and thickly textured; long and luscious and full of chewy tannins to conclude.
