Clarendon Hills Romas Grenache 2016
Romas Grenache patch is the steepest, rockiest section of the Blewitt Springs Grenache vineyard. Gnarly, nearly 100 year old vines produce microscopic yields and amazing acidity, with final pH similar to that of a Chardonnay white wine. Taste the terroir of Blewitt Springs, McLaren Vale in this old vine, unfiltered, hand made flagship example.
” From the steepest, stoniest section of the Blewitt Springs site. The complexity here is deeply embedded with red to blue and purple-fruit aromas, as well as woody-spice and blood-orange notes. The palate has a big, powerful structure with super fresh red berries, cherries, redcurrants and a powerful stream of fine, sandy tannin. Try from 2024.”
” More violets, orange blossom, spice, and assorted blue fruits emerge from the 2016 Grenache Romas Vineyard, a slightly lifted, perfumed Grenache with a beautifully elegant, seamless texture. Rich, full-bodied, and concentrated, it has a lively, elegant texture, loads of chocolaty fruit, a good spine of acidity, and a great finish. It needs air to show at its best and is going to benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age and cruise for a decade.”
