Clarendon Hills Brookman Syrah 2017
The Clarendon Hills Brookman Syrah hails from a dry grown, old, gnarly bush vine Syrah patch located in the lowest lying reaches of Blewitt Springs, McLaren Vale. Situated below the sand and deep in the clay the site yields a highly layered grand Cru like expression where the power is recessed and reserved, laying in wait for future generations. Polished and smoothed, the wine exhibits density of character and presents an effortless power. Kalamata black olive tapenade, mahogany, red and black plum fruit, blueberries and in cooler years white pepper typically in the kaleidoscope of expression.
“Liquorice, chocolate, oyster shell and mint, black fruit. Lush, full-bodied, saline and nutty, ripe silty tannin, feels like rolling cocoa around the mouth, mint chocolate richness, deeper and more gravelly than the Liandra, though maybe not as fresh? Excellent wine. Presence. Power.”

” Very attractive, deep-set complexity of pepper, grilled meat and hard brown spices. Crushed stones, dark berries, citrus fruit and plums, too. The palate has a deep, dense feel with velvety, suave texture at the edge and such intense, powerful fruit. Power and suave texture is a great combination. This really showcases what the Vale does so well. Try from 2023″
